1. Annual School Events

Nishiyamato’s Saturday school mainly focuses on strengthening student’s Japanese language. Our licensed and experienced staff brings up-to-date Japanese curriculum available to you. Here, not only students learn Japanese, but they learn other valuable lessons that can only be obtained through hands-on-experience. Students learn to become team player through various sports events, become compassionate and gain kind heart through plant cultivation, and gain patience and responsibility through art and craft. In Middle School, students participate in international exchange programs and extracurricular activities, which provide a gateway to various cultures allowing them to learn how to be internationally open minded individual. Additionally, through various school events listed previously, we aim to enrich students’ personalities and strengthen their various social skills. Furthermore, by providing education through information technology and environmental studies, we promise your child will be prepared and thrive in the global society of the 21st century.

Kindergarten

Points of Focus
Various activities using letters and numbers. Japanese songs, stories, story-telling, finger-play, crafting and P.E.

Elementary School (Grades 1~3)

Subject Points of Focus
Japanese 1 Strengthening Japanese language skills using textbook. Discovering the joy of reading, listening, writing and speaking.
Japanese 2 Expand and strengthen Japanese vocabulary skills with the use of workbooks (Katakana workbook, Hiragana workbook, Kanji workbook etc).
Math Begin to learn how to think logically to solve problems and word problems with the use of textbook.
Lifestyle Studies Learn about the Japanese seasons and nature, traditional events with the use of educational equipments.

Elementary School (Grade 4~6)

Subject Points of focus
Japanese 1 Strengthening Japanese language skills using textbook. Discovering the joy of reading, listening, writing and speaking.
Math Build mathematical skills to solve various calculation and word problems with the use of textbook.
Japanese 2 Strengthen Japanese vocabulary skills with the use of workbooks.
Science* Learn basic scientific skills through use of textbook.
Social Studies* Improve basic Social Studies knowledge through use of textbook.
P.E.* Learn basic Japanese Physical Education through activities such as: vaults, mats, and other various team sports.

*Students choose one subject from: Science, Social Studies, or P.E.

Middle School (Grades 7~9)

Math Build critical thinking, abstract thinking, and learn to solve word problems with the use of textbook.

Social Studies* Improve basic Social Studies knowledge through use of textbook.
P.E.* Learn basic Japanese Physical Education through activities such as: vaults, mats, and other various team sports.
